Tsunami - Banda Aceh

On 26 December 2004, 7:58 local time, a magnitude 9.2 earthquake rocked northern Sumatra for 10 minutes triggering a massive tsunami. This rose to heights in excess of 20 metres as it crashed into 800km of coastline, taking 200,000 lives and leaving 1/2 million people homeless.

Photography can only give a small insight into the scale of devastation nature unleashed on that morning in Aceh.
